Germany, Düsseldorf, June 21 2004 – Xerox has declared the drupa 2004 show held in Düsseldorf between May 6-19, a major success, with more than 108,000 visitors having registered on the booth by the last day of the show, almost 30,000 more than had been anticipated. The actual number of walk-on visitors, who did not take the time to register, is expected to boost the numbers even further.
Levels of interest, sales' enquires, and bookings were on target towards the close of the show. Xerox took orders for all its major commercial colour and monochrome printing equipment models, including the Xerox DocuColor iGen3™ Digital Production Press, the newly launched Xerox Nuvera™ 100 and 120 Copier/ Printer and Production System, the Xerox DocuColor™ Digital Colour Press range, the Xerox DocuPrint™ 525 CF, the Xerox DocuTech™ Production Publisher lines, together with a number of mid-range colour and mono office machine and Phaser printers.
Orders came from new and existing clients from around the globe, spanning the full range of visitors who came to drupa 2004, which included companies from Europe, the Americas, the Far East and Australasia.
Andreas Winters, managing director of German company rewi druckhaus Reiner Winters GmbH confirmed the signing of another Xerox monochrome digital printing system at drupa 2004 that will be used to print manuals, brochures, loose-leaf catalogues and short-run commercial work.
Winters said: “Once again we have chosen Xerox, because the new printing system not only fulfils our specific paper requirements but also offers outstanding quality and the best cost / benefit ratio compared to other competitors.”
France also scored some significant successes, with signings for eight iGen3 presses to six clients. Mailing company Maileva will take delivery of two of the iGen3’s, together with a Xerox DocuPrint 155, while Modus Media International (MMI), a hi-tech supply chain services company that processes more than one billion part numbers for its clients every year, is to install an iGen3 to help keep pace with demand for its print volumes.
Xerox also demonstrated the first workflow system, based on industry standards, that allows printers to use technology from multiple vendors to manage a job from creation to completion through the Xerox FreeFlow partner certification programme.
The new system combines software from Xerox, Creo, and Adobe Systems and utilizes PDF for print files and JDF (job definition formats) for electronic job tickets, making the whole print process faster and simpler. The Xerox FreeFlow™ Digital Workflow Collection is also made up of modular software offerings from Xerox and more than 100 business partner products.
Xerox business research, carried out on the floor over the two weeks of the show, also demonstrated that 75% of all visitors believed that Xerox’s overall presence at Drupa was second to none, 85% said Xerox’s marketing message had been clear and precise, and 86% said Xerox’s presentation of its products and services was cutting edge and innovative.
Armando Zagalo de Lima, president, Xerox Europe, said: “For Xerox, drupa 2004 has been a showcase for new products and workflow solutions. It has also proved to be a major selling ground in terms of the level of enquiries and confirmed bookings that we have taken at the show from a worldwide audience. The response and level of interest on the Xerox stand in Hall 13 shows that the graphic arts industry is now in better shape after a challenging few years. It has been an outstanding drupa 2004 for the company and exceeded all our expectations.”
