Uxbridge, December 1 2003 - Xerox has announced the appointment of Armando Zagalo de Lima as president, Xerox Europe. He succeeds Jean-Noël Machon, who has been named president of the company's Developing Markets Operations. The changes will be effective from 1st January, 2004.
Zagalo de Lima previously held the post of chief operating officer, Xerox Europe, to which he was appointed in September 2000.
"The combination of Armando¹s leadership skills and his tremendous knowledge of all aspects of our business make him an ideal choice for president of Xerox Europe," said Anne Mulcahy, chairman and chief executive officer, Xerox Corporation.
Zagalo de Lima joined Xerox in Portugal in 1983 and has held a variety of management positions throughout Europe. In 1997 he was appointed general manager of Xerox's Southern European entity with operations in Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Greece. Before becoming chief operating officer, he was named deputy managing director of Xerox Europe with responsibility for its global document solutions and services group.
"This is an important point in the company¹s transformation into the "new" forward looking Xerox," said Zagalo de Lima. "We have made great progress in Europe in building the right organisation, business model and portfolio of products and services to continue to deliver long-term, profitable growth. My key imperative is to ensure that a determined and relentless focus on the customer is an everyday priority for every Xerox employee in Europe."
Zagalo de Lima will be based at Xerox's European headquarters in Uxbridge, UK.
