New York, NY USA and Amsterdam, The Netherlands, December 21, 2005 - TELEHOUSE International Corporation of America, the leading provider of high-level international internet exchanges, data center and collocation facilities, and business continuity and disaster recovery solutions; and The Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), the leading European neutral, non-profit Internet exchange providing high quality peering services, announce a mutual agreement that establishes a working relationship between the two organizations’ exchanges.
The arrangement brings together the cultures and memberships of the AMS-IX exchange, located in Amsterdam and TELEHOUSE’s NYIIX and LAIIX exchanges, located in New York and Los Angeles respectively. The exchanges will expand their existing reach internationally via a variety of joint initiatives. Additionally AMS-IX and TELEHOUSE will explore new channels, enabling members to swap information in areas, such as technology, trends, and services, while opening up new opportunities to respective members in both countries.
TELEHOUSE and AMS-IX recently collaborated on Neustar’s launch of their SIP-IX initiative, the first comprehensive suite of services designed to enable direct network-to-network peering between trading partners using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based technologies such as IP multimedia (IMS) and VoIP.
"This arrangement with AMS-IX is a logical extension of our VoIP peering efforts,” said Masahiro Furuya, president and CEO of TELEHOUSE. “And we are most pleased to be working with an organization that is so well respected within the European and global IX community.”
Job Witteman, AMS-IX CEO, said: “This initiative with TELEHOUSE will enable additional access to two main US peering markets namely NY and LA for our connected members. On top of it we can stimulate value added services, like SIP-IX, for the participants of all exchanges at a larger and higher scale.”
