AMSTERDAM, 26 mei 2010 – In a series of speeches at the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) in Amsterdam today, business leaders from Xerox Corporation outlined their vision for the future of key public services such as healthcare, education, transport and government, including how these services will be fundamentally changed by technological innovations.
Lynn Blodgett, president and CEO of ACS, A Xerox Company, discussed the evolution of the IT industry in the event’s keynote speech, outlining how Xerox is helping to accelerate global innovation in a range of different industries. Blodgett presented a vision of how IT can help stimulate social change through new initiatives, such as capturing unstructured data and processing it into structured information, which can be used to drive improvements in areas like transport, healthcare and education.
In one of several other speeches given by Xerox experts and customers, Dr. Jeff Bauer, vice president of Forecasting and Strategy for ACS, A Xerox Company, discussed how the parallel advances in medical science and IT could dramatically improve the quality of healthcare and drive down costs. He also explored how technological convergences could achieve the universal goals of health reform through innovation in shared applications, such as text mining tools that help detect infections and analytic protocols that identify the most cost-effective medical services for individual patients.
David Cummins, vice president of Sales and Marketing for the ACS Transportation Solutions Group, will address the increasing importance of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in a panel session focussed on mobility on day 3 at WCIT. With ACS’ experience as an investor, systems integrator and operator for clients in 30 countries, Cummins will be able to discuss how innovative financing, smart technologies and emerging business models are addressing increasingly complex urban transportation problems.
This year’s summit is themed around the ‘Challenges of Change’, and focused on addressing the global impact of issues, such as economic and social development, with the global IT community exchanging policies and ideas on how ICT can enable change and innovation in all parts of the world. As a platinum sponsor of the event, Xerox is also contributing to track sessions on eHealth, government and mobility, as well as showcasing applications and the latest innovations from Xerox’s European Research Centre based in Grenoble, France.
