Toepassing maakt gebruik van Demantra-technologie

Baarn/Denver, 16 juli 2002 – J.D. Edwards, leverancier van softwareoplossingen voor de optimalisatie van interne en externe bedrijfsprocessen, introduceert een nieuwe versie van haar Demand Planning-toepassing. De nieuwe applicatie, gebaseerd op de technologie van Demantra – een specialist op dit gebied –, is gericht op bedrijven met uitgebreide forecasting-behoeften. De Demand Planning-applicatie is onderdeel van de Advanced Planning-suite van J.D. Edwards 5. Hierdoor ontstaat een planningomgeving voor de gehele supply chain. Zo kunnen bedrijven de voorspelbaarheid van hun toeleveringsketen verbeteren, voorraadkosten verminderen, voorraadbeheer verbeteren, productiekosten verlagen en de algehele klanttevredenheid verder verhogen.
 
Daar waar concurrerende toepassingen gebruikmaken van een enkel ‘best fit’ statistisch model, gebruikt de nieuwe Demand Planning-applicatie van J.D. Edwards statistische en meerdimensionale modellen voor de voorspellingen en planning van de toekomstige vraag. Daardoor zijn seizoensinvloeden, de periodieke vraag, onverwachte gebeurtenissen en veranderingen in trends en patronen nauwkeuriger te voorspellen. Demand Planning biedt tevens de mogelijkheid de invloed van bijvoorbeeld vakanties, promoties en productafhankelijkheid te analyseren en te voorspellen.

J.D. EDWARDS RELEASES LATEST VERSION OF DEMAND PLANNING SOFTWARE

 

Application works with new Demand Consensus software, delivering comprehensive demand management capabilities

 

 

DENVER, July 15, 2002– J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC) today announced the release of its latest version of Demand Planning, a significantly enhanced application designed to meet the needs of companies with challenging forecasting environments. J.D. Edwards’ Demand Planning leverages technology from Demantra, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based provider of demand-driven supply chain software. Part of the company’s enhanced suite of Advanced Planning applications in J.D. EdwardsÒ 5, Demand Planning works in tandem with Demand Consensus to create a true collaborative forecasting environment across the supply chain (see related release on Demand Consensus dated January 31, 2002). This helps businesses improve supply chain predictability, reduce inventories, avoid stockouts, lower production costs and improve overall customer satisfaction.

 

Using historical demand information and market intelligence, J.D. Edwards Demand Planning employs statistical and multi-dimensional data modeling capabilities to predict and plan for future product demand. Unlike competing offerings, which typically utilize only a single, “best-fit” statistical model to forecast future demand, J.D. Edwards Demand Planning combines statistics derived from multiple models to create a more accurate forecast for better managing seasonality, intermittent demand, unusual events, and changes in demand trends and patterns.  In addition, Demand Planning can analyze and forecast the impact of events such as holidays, promotions, and price sensitivities and product dependencies.

As with all Advanced Planning applications, Demand Planning comes pre-integrated with the J.D. Edwards 5 ERP and supply chain execution offerings for instantaneous response to supply chain events.

Enhancements to Demand Planning include:

·        Faster computation speed, enabling forecasting for very large data sets

·        A more user-friendly interface

·        Improvements to statistical modeling capabilities to accommodate intermittent and erratic demand

·        Allocation management functions to improve spare parts and co-product demand management
