SAN FRANCISCO/AMSTERDAM – RED HAT SUMMIT 2016 – 28 juni 2016 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, kondigt vandaag de algemene beschikbaarheid aan van Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 7 (JBoss EAP), de open source Java EE 7 compliant applicatieserver. Daarnaast komt Red Hat met JBoss Core Services Collection, een reeks technologieën die klanten voorzien van algemene en fundamentele applicatiecomponenten. Red Hat wil met JBoss EAP 7 grootzakelijke bedrijven helpen hun bestaande applicatie-investeringen uit te breiden zodra ze de transitie kunnen starten naar nieuwe architecturen en programmeerparadigma’s die een lichtgewicht, uiterst modulair, cloud-native platform vereisen.
JBoss EAP 7 combineert de op grote schaal ingezette Java EE API’s met de laatste technologieën die DevOps ontwikkeling ondersteunen, zoals Red Hat’s bekroonde development environment (IDE), JBoss Developer Studio, Jenkins, Arquillian en Maven evenals een aantal belangrijke Web en JavaScript frameworks. JBoss EAP 7 is een veelzijdige keuze voor grootzakelijke bedrijven die traditionele applicaties of meer modulaire, microservices-achtige toepassingen bouwen.
JBoss EAP 7 is geoptimaliseerd voor cloudomgevingen en zodra het gebruikt wordt met Red Hat OpenShift biedt het voordelen voor containers,
load balancing, elastische
scaling en monitoring. Dit kan de productiviteit en ervaring van ontwikkelaars verbeteren. Daarnaast draagt JBoss EAP met OpenShift bij aan een meer architectonische, efficiënte DevOps-omgeving, aangezien overlappende functies niet langer nodig zijn. Deze DevOps-efficiëntie kan vergroot worden zodra extra middleware-componenten op OpenShift gebruikt worden.
Core Services Collection
JBoss Core Services Collection biedt bouwstenen voor zakelijke applicaties, zoals
Web single sign-on,
HTTP load balancing en
proxying, en beheer en monitormogelijkheden voor applicaties en diensten. Red Hat-klanten ontvangen als onderdeel van een Red Hat JBoss Middleware-abonnement, online en telefonische ondersteuning, updates, patches en security-verbeteringen.
Technologieën die momenteel volledige ondersteund worden in JBoss Core Services Collection, zijn
Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (dat een gecentraliseerd beheerpunt is voor alle Red Hat JBoss Middleware-producten), Apache HTTP server, connectoren voor IIS en iPlanet web servers, Apache Commons Jsvc, en een single sign-on server gebaseerd op het JBoss
Keycloak project.
JBoss EAP 7 partner ecosysteem
Red Hat werd dit jaar het eerste opensourcebedrijf dat een omzet realiseerde van 2 miljard dollar. Hierbij werd het gesteund door een partnerecosyteem bestaande uit ISV’s (independent software vendors), SI’s (system integrators) en VAR’s (value-added resellers) naast het kanaal met OEM’s (original equipment manufacturer), distributeurs en resellers.
De lancering van JBoss EAP 7 markeert een nieuwe mijlpaal waarbij het productportfolio voor partners verder wordt uitgebreid, en het applicatieplatform als een basis voor hybride cloudapplicaties wordt versterkt.
In juni 2016 is het 10 jaar geleden dat Red Hat tot de enterprise applicatieontwikkelmarkt toetrad met de op twee na grootste acquisitie tot nu toe: JBoss. De technologie die JBoss EAP werd, stond centraal in deze acquisitie. Dit heeft niet alleen geholpen voor de opmars van Red Hat om een wereldwijde opensourceleider te worden, maar heeft de weg ook geplaveid voor open source om de standaard voor innovatie in enterprise computing te worden.
Sinds Red Hat het betreden van de markt voor applicatieontwikkeling 10 jaar geleden heeft Red Hat het aanbod uitgebreid tot meer dan 15 applicatieontwikkelproducten en -oplossingen, waaronder het bekroonde containerapplicatieplatform, OpenShift, Red Hat Mobile Application Platform en het Red Hat Developer programma. Hierdoor werd het voor Red Hat mogelijk om een alternatief te vormen voor ontwikkelaars die op zoek zijn naar een flexibel open source ontwikkelplatform voor applicaties.
