Avanade, a business technology services provider, ranked first in information technology and second in training for the second year in a row in the recent survey conducted by Consulting Magazine.
The magazine, the flagship publication of the consulting profession, listed Avanade in its ninth annual survey of the “Best Firms to Work For.” This year’s Best Firms to Work For survey included the largest pool of participants ever (236 consultancies, up 13 percent from last year’s record high). Winners are split into two groups: large firms, who employ at least 500 consultants, and small firms, who employ between 20 and 499 consultants.
Consultants evaluated their companies in six overall areas: “Career Development,” “Compensation and Benefits,” “Culture,” “Work/Life Balance,” “The Job” and “Leadership.” Within those areas, Avanade again excelled in training and was at the top in the area of service lines for information technology.
In the “Service Lines” category, Avanade ranked first, followed by: Perot Systems, SunGard Consulting Services, Hitachi Consulting and Capgemini Consulting. In “Training”, Avanade averaged 80.7 hours of training for each consultant and ranked just behind McKinsey & Company with 98.2 hours. This marks the third consecutive year that Avanade garnered a second place rating in “Training.”
“We are thrilled to continue to receive recognition in these categories from Consulting Magazine and the industry,” said Joseph Mendel, vice president of human resources at Avanade. “The rankings underscore our vision of creating an organization that helps our IT staff and consultants worldwide grow professionally and deliver innovative solutions. We truly believe Avanade’s IT professionals are among the best in the industry. By focusing on training and career development, we attract and retain some of the most talented consultants in this space to deliver real business results for our customers.”
To support Avanade’s career development initiatives, Avanade provides a deep technical curriculum of training and development opportunities, both in-house and through Microsoft. The company pays for all professional certifications. It also actively encourages members of its technical community to study for and achieve their professional certifications and expert designations.
