Amstelveen, 24 juni 2009 – HP onthult deze week ‘s werelds eerste printer met directe internetverbinding: de HP Photosmart Premium met TouchSmart Web. Hiermee kunnen gebruikers direct vanaf het touchscreen van 4,33 inch digitale content printen, zonder dat ze een pc nodig hebben.

Het TouchSmart Web is een online platform met widgetachtige HP-applicaties (apps). Een aantal apps worden direct met de nieuwe printer meegeleverd, waarmee je direct routekaarten uit Google Maps, agenda’s uit Google Calendar, nieuws, recepten, bioscoopkaartjes en kortingsbonnen kunt printen.
HP werkte voor de eerste gratis apps samen met toonaangevende partijen op het gebied van nieuws, entertainment en informatievoorziening: Google, USA TODAY, Fandango, Coupons Inc., DreamWorks Animation, Nickelodeon, Web Sudoku en Weathernews Inc. Gebruikers kunnen ook nieuwe applicaties downloaden en zelf maken in de HP Apps Studio.
“Vijfentwintig jaar geleden vond HP printen voor consumenten uit en nu komen we voor dezelfde doelgroep met een compleet nieuw printplatform,” zegt Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president van de Imaging & Printing Group bij HP. “Door mensen directe toegang te geven tot hun online content met één aanraking brengen we een aardverschuiving teweeg op het gebied van printen.”
De printer, beloond met het Energy Star-label, faxt, kopieert, scant en print documenten in laserkwaliteit en foto’s in fotolab-kwaliteit. Gebruikers kunnen rechtstreeks printen vanaf pc’s met wifi-verbinding, apparaten met Bluetooth®, de Apple iPhone en de Apple iPod Touch met gebruik van HP iPrint Photo
[3]. Ook staat hij rechtstreeks in verbinding met het Snapfish-account van een gebruiker waarmee je foto’s kan bekijken, uploaden en printen.

Prijs en beschikbaarheidDe HP Photosmart Premium met TouchSmart Web zal in 2010 in Europa beschikbaar zijn.
