Unit 4 Agresso wins largest contract this year with Southampton City Council
Sliedrecht, the Netherlands & Bristol, Great Britain, 9th October 2001- Unit
4 Agresso NV, software developer and supplier of secure e-Business
solutions, announces that Southampton City Council has selected Unit 4
Agresso's web-enabled financial and business information management system
and has signed a contract worth over £1.9 million.
The authority-wide implementation of AGRESSO Business World is the largest
deal signed by Agresso in the UK to date. The contract covers the
implementation of the core AGRESSO financials, logistics, project,
e-procurement and e-commerce modules plus management information system
tools. Unit 4 Agresso will also act as main contractors for Northgate
payroll, IBM hardware and SQL-server.
Southampton City Council said it was looking for a system that demonstrated
excellent functionality from a company that was committed to working closely
with the council in developing e-government solutions.
Rob Aldridge, Southampton City Council's Corporate Accounting manager, said:
"AGRESSO is a comprehensive, flexible, user-friendly system which we are
confident will meet all our current and future needs. In a council which
places great emphasis on empowerment, AGRESSO's very flexible analysis and
reporting capabilities will enable departments to manage their budgets more
easily."
He went on: "As a 'pathfinder' authority Southampton is playing a leading
role in driving forward the e-government agenda. AGRESSO's capabilities
will help us to develop a range of initiatives and solutions to meet targets
for carrying out more of our business processes and offering a greater range
of services on-line."
Southampton City Council has a budget of £320 million and is a unitary
authority. Implementation will be on a phased basis, with AGRESSO being
rolled out across the council between April 2002 and April 2003.
