Sefton Park, U.K. February 21, 2006 – Hitachi Data Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (Nyse: “HIT”) and leading provider of Application Optimized Storage™ solutions, is participating again in the forthcoming CeBIT fair, and will exhibit its portfolio of products and services at the stand of Hitachi, Ltd., its parent company, stand number D45 of Hall 1. According to its motto “Hitachi Technology Makes Your Life Easier”, Hitachi Data Systems will present storage solutions for companies of all sizes and, in particular, for small- and medium-sized businesses. These solutions ensure an efficient and uninterrupted support of business processes. The key issues and themes this year will focus on technologies where Hitachi Data Systems is a leading provider worldwide, and which also outline the storage trends of the future: storage virtualization, Tiered-Storage concepts, Data Lifecycle Management (DLM), Storage Management, and Business Continuity.
Virtualization Gaining Ground
Hitachi Data Systems will demonstrate how virtualization of a company’s storage capacities increases the flexibility and performance of storage networks, and also simultaneously simplifies the administration and reduces the Total Cost of Management (TCM). These virtualization solutions based on TagmaStore Universal Storage Platform (USP) and TagmaStore Network Storage Controller (NSC55) – technologically leading virtualization platforms – have already proven themselves in practice among many customers in EMEA and globally. To date, Hitachi Data Systems has installed more than 2,000 virtualization engines at customer sites worldwide and managed to report record EMEA revenues of USP and NSC55 systems in the last quarter, ending 31 December 2005.
Together with the new AMS (Adaptable Modular Storage) and WMS (Workgroup Modular Storage) midrange systems, the entire TagmaStore family will be presented, for the first time, at an European trade fair. A Tiered Storage model encompassing several storage classes will be mapped to serve as an example. Visitors to the stand will also be able to attend live demonstrations as Hitachi Data Systems will establish a direct link to its Solution Center located in Dreieich, near Frankfurt am Main.
Additional demo stations will be available to visitors to obtain comprehensive insights into all current storage trends and to attend other live presentations on subjects such as storage management.
Presentation of Solutions for Medium-Sized Businesses together with Partners
At CeBIT 2006, Hitachi Data Systems will offer a particularly broad portfolio for small- and medium-sized businesses. Together with nine partners, Hitachi Data Systems will demonstrate solutions which facilitate day-to-day business activities, simplify processes, and optimize business continuity for small- and medium-sized enterprises. Among these partners are ADA – Das Systemhaus, Assistra, Cema, eld Datentechnik, Kramer & Crew, Maxdata, SUN Microsystems, SVA, and Unisys. Ranging from DLM, virtualization, backup and recovery, business continuity, storage area management, and Microsoft solutions to supplementary storage-server solutions, each of these partners will present demonstrations covering its own special fields.
“CeBIT 2006 is an ideal platform to demonstrate Hitachi Data Systems solutions to businesses of all sizes”, said Michael Väth, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Hitachi Data Systems EMEA. “In Europe, there is a huge opportunity for us for growth in the small- and medium-sized business and we’re also taking market-share in the enterprise space. Our joint objective, together with our partners, is to provide solutions which offer the optimal storage infrastructure to support a company’s business processes - which are essentially their applications. We call this approach Application Optimized Storage.”
