NEEDHAM, Mass., July 28, 2005 - Brooktrout Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of media processing and call control products, today announced that it holds a commanding lead in the worldwide intelligent fax board market with a 70% worldwide market share, according to the latest Davidson Consulting research report “Computer-Based Fax Markets, 2004-2009” published this month by Davidson Consulting. In addition, Brooktrout also continues to gain market share in Europe, increasing its market share by 6% over the previous year, according to the Davidson report.
“The fax board market grew from $95 million in 2003 to $105 million in 2004 at a growth rate of 9.5%. Most of this was attributable to Brooktrout, which grew even faster than that rate and continued to eat away at its competitor’s market share,” said Peter Davidson, author of the report. “Brooktrout also gained market share in Europe, and shot up to a 70% share of the worldwide market.”
According to the report, growth in the fax server market is driven largely by compliance regulations ranging from Sarbanes-Oxley to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that require internal controls and audit trails for a variety of documents including faxes.
