KPN is to outsource its Application Management Consultancy activities to Getronics. A letter of intent was signed to this purpose. KPN and Getronics expect to conclude the final contract by the end of this year.
Application Management Consultancy is part of KPN’s Integrated and Managed Solutions business unit, which employs 120 people divided between locations in Heerlen and The Hague. They will transfer to Getronics Netherlands once the final contract has been signed. Talks with the workers councils and the trade unions are still continuing.
KPN’s business unit (with a turnover of 15 to 20 million Euro per year) provides functional and technical application management for business clients. Application Management Consultancy is also engaged in staffware and various web applications.
‘Enterprises are continually striving to improve their business processes, with new and updated ICT applications playing an important role. This has made Application Integration and Management one of the spearheads within Getronics’ portfolio of services. By taking on KPN’s activities in this area, we will significantly strengthen our own position in this market while improving our services to enterprises for the rapid implementation of new business processes. Moreover, this outsourcing contract will enable us to add such services as SAP integration and management to our present offer of applications,’ says Oswald Coene, member of Getronics’ Board of Management and General Manager of Getronics Netherlands. This outsourcing contract fits in with Getronics’ outsourcing strategy. Getronics previously concluded outsourcing contracts with, amongst others, Stork, ANP and Randstad.
