Hoofddorp, 17 mei 2004 - Allied Telesyn, the end-to-end networking solutions vendor, today announced that it is speaking at the Fibre To The Home (FTTH) Council Europe event 'Why Fibre, Why Now'. Allied Telesyn's Business Development Director, Rami Houbby, will be in Belgium to present European FTTH market development and demonstrate what fibre access provides to users and businesses.
Held on the 25 and 26 May 2004 at the SURFhouse in Brussels, the event will address European and national policy makers and regulators, as well as market stakeholders. It will show why fibre access should become a key subject for discussion within the current political agenda.
"Europe is behind other territories, such as the US and Japan, in developing its FTTH policy," commented Allied Telesyn's International Business Development Director, Rami Houbby. "We need to promote the extension of fibre access in Europe as the need for this type of technology and its applications continues to rise."
Comprised of over 25 European and global broadband industry leaders, the FTTH Council intends to offer its wealth of practical experience to government policy makers, network owners and potential FTTH operators to respond to the developing needs and demands of Broadband Europe.
"Fibre access is a critical element in European competitiveness," says FTTH Council Board's first President, Paul Naastepad. "The time is ripe for developing a pan-European policy for fibre access within EU member states and accession countries."
