BT WINS 2004 EUROPEAN DATA COMMUNICATION SERVICE PROVIDER OF THE YEAR AWARD
BT Global Services, BT's business services and solutions division, has won the Frost & Sullivan 2004 European Data Communication Service Provider of the Year Award.
The award is presented each year to the company that, in Frost & Sullivan's judgement, has demonstrated unparalleled excellence. The award is based on numerous factors including the company's business development, competitive strategy, and customer service leadership within a particular Frost & Sullivan Industry Research Group (IRG).
The winner is perceived to exhibit outstanding management, consistent growth, high quality products and services as well as a positive social and economic impact on local and national communities. Exceptional customer service is also crucial to success, coupled with the ability to combine technology and successful marketing.
The award citation states: " BT Global Services' ability to shine whilst its peers succumbed to the pressure of a demanding trading environment meant that it outgrew all of its competitors in 2003. This company alone has achieved the fine balance of cost reduction whilst maintaining and even increasing its scale to fill the opportunities the market presents."
This is the third Frost & Sullivan award that BT has won in the past seven months. Earlier this year Frost & Sullivan awarded BT Global Services a business development leadership award for its early entry into the integrated LAN/WAN services market, and in 2003 BT won a similar accolade for its performance in the network outsourcing market. BT Global Services received the award because of its aggressive approach to winning large European contracts.
Paul Devine, a research analyst at Frost & Sullivan, said: " Frost & Sullivan's Company of the Year Award recognises BT Global Services' success at demonstrating the scale and growth required to succeed in the European Data services market. 2003 revenues and year-on-year growth highlight BT's market leader status. The Company of the Year award also recognises BT's ability to generate revenues from new services such as ICT integrated LAN / WAN and Network Outsourcing.
Andy Green, chief executive officer of BT Global Services, said: "This is a tremendous achievement for BT and recognises our success in helping our customers take advantage of the IP revolution. In giving this award to BT, Frost & Sullivan has recognised our leadership in network centric ICT solutions."
