Oostvoorne, February 19, 2004 - Melrow Technology BV announces the release of a new system based on Intel Server Compute Blade SBX44, supported by up to four Intel Xeon processors MP: the QBX4i. The Melrow QBX4i offers features that provide a significant boost to workloads, required by data intensive applications.
The Melrow QBX4i extends the benefits of blade computing. With 4-way blades, medium to large enterprises can build more powerful computers, allowing them to consolidate servers further, needing fewer chassis. The system allows for easy server installation and deployment, with fewer servers to monitor and secure against viruses and other security breaches. Using 4-way blades, customers can reduce server footprint, administration, and network sprawl.
All this simplification and consolidation also leads to lower cost, through easier serviceability, easier manageability, and reduced cabling. System administrators enjoy fewer installations and redeployments, fewer servers to monitor, fewer failure points, and a greater ability to consolidate applications.
"Melrow's new QBX4i based on the Intel Server Compute Blade SBX44 offers the flexibility of consolidation and lower maintenance costs for transaction and data intensive applications," said Phil Brace, director of marketing, Intel Enterprise Platforms and Services Marketing. "QBX4i is a great addition to the wide range of powerful hardware solutions based on Intel server products."
The Melrow QBX4i includes a wealth of features that deliver scalable performance, deployment flexibility, and easy serviceability:
- Support for up to four Intel Xeon processors MP running up to
2.8 GHz with 2MB level 3 cache (compatible with future Intel Xeon processors MP)
- 400 MHz front-side bus
- Maximum of 16GB memory PC2100 supporting Intel x4 Single Device Data Correction (x4 SDDC)
- Integrated ATA-100 IDE, embedded RAID-0/RAID-1 mirroring
- Optional SCSI storage expansion unit with embedded RAID-1
- Eight communication paths (quad network, dual storage)
- Hot-plug connection for fast, easy service.
