Getronics today announced that Bayer Corporation has selected Getronics as the sole services and support provider for PCs and laptops in the United States and Canada. The three-year, EUR 20 million contract covers all of Bayer’s business units and 18,500 employees.
Getronics is providing desktop hardware and software support. Systems include Dell and IBM PCs and laptops running Microsoft suites, Lotus Notes, virus and firewall software, and custom applications. The contract also covers asset management, remote diagnostics, as well as installations, moves, adds and changes. These services are all part of Getronics’ NetWorkPlace TM suite of infrastructure solutions.
Getronics chosen on the basis of Customer satisfaction
Getronics won the contract based on its service to Bayer businesses in the United States and Canada prior to this latest agreement. Getronics’ proposal also addressed Bayer’s ongoing efforts to reduce IT costs.
In 2001 Bayer began an IT initiative to improve cost effectiveness and service quality. As part of the initiative, Getronics has been selected to be the only provider of services for desktop and laptop users at 200 locations across HealthCare, Crop Science, Polymers, and Chemicals business units.
“Our mission is to deliver the best quality of service at the most affordable level to our employees,” commented Claudio Abreu, Bayer vice president, Information Systems Technology and Operations. “Getronics desktop/deskside services nicely complement our own help desk operations.”
Getronics won the contract, in part, based on its track record of providing support to a few Bayer operations in the US and Canada. Getronics has clearly defined its approach to providing system services and adheres to agreed to service level agreements (SLAs).
Kevin Roche, general manager, Getronics North America said: “One of our strengths is desktop outsourcing and Bayer’s confidence in us underscores our success in delivering high quality services at a reasonable cost. Bayer is among a growing number of multi-national clients that rely on Getronics to manage their computing environments.”
