ATLANTA and PARIS – March 5, 2003 – SEAGULL (AEX: SEAGULL), the leader in legacy evolution software solutions, today announced that P&TLuxembourg has selected its LegaSuite software platform as the key technology to provide telecommunications operators with integrated, realtime access to customer data.
P&TLuxembourg is the premier postal and telecommunication services operator in Luxemburg. The EPT (Entreprise des Postes et Télécommunications) is active in the areas of postal, financial and telecommunications services. The telecom division provides service to 100% of the fixed phone market and 60% of the mobile market in Luxemburg and also offers numerous Internet services. EPT uses a back-office legacy application to manage all customer account information, including service requests and usage details. In order to provide faster and more accurate responses to customer inquires, EPT decided to build a new IT architecture that enabled telecommunication operators to input and interact in realtime with up-to-the-minute customer data residing on the company’s scalable, reliable back-office server.
EPT chose to deploy a J2EE architecture consisting of a browser at the client level, an application server running WebSphere and MQSeries, and the company’s legacy customer management application. Using Transidiom, the LegaSuite module for legacy application integration, EPT has packaged back-office business processes such as “account balance” and “create service order” into callable component services with industry-standard XML interfaces, which then interact seamlessly and on demand with MQSeries and the WebSphere Application Server. Transidiom allows EPT to keep the efficient and reliable customer management system on the legacy host, while integrating core business functionality into new Web architectures. By directly connecting the front-office Web applications to the legacy system, EPT eliminates duplicative, error-prone manual entry of customer account information.
“Our Information System architecture was missing an essential component to enable a browser to interact with our legacy customer information system,” declares Marco Van Maris, EPT project manager. “Transidiom is key to our new architecture. With it, we are now able to better fulfill the needs of our customers.”
