3GSM SHOW, CANNES -18 February 2003 -Citrix Systems, Inc., a leader in enterprise infrastructure software and services, today announced its participation in the Microsoft Mobility Partner Advisory Council (MPAC). Microsoft and Citrix will work closely together to bring to market mobility solutions that enable enterprises to access information, data and applications over any network, on any device. Microsoft will provide Citrix with technical and development resources, including architectural support for beta products; Citrix will provide best practice and technical feedback to help ensure ongoing improvement of Microsoft's mobility platforms.
Citrix, which works with over 120,000 enterprise customers worldwide, simplifies access to applications and data from platforms such as Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 over virtually any wireless network. In a Citrix mobile architecture, application processing takes place on a central server, and only keystrokes, mouse clicks and screen updates are transferred wirelessly between client and server, consuming as little as 10 Kbps of network bandwidth.
"The Microsoft Mobility Partner Advisory Council is dedicated to providing Microsoft partners with the technical and business support they need to successfully deploy mobile solutions to the enterprise," said Robbie Wright, Director, Mobile Devices Marketing Group, Microsoft EMEA. "Citrix, with its wealth of experience in mobilising major companies and public sector organisations is a highly valued new member of the group. We look forward to working more closely with the Citrix Mobility team in coming months."
"Enterprise customers are overwhelmingly wanting to mobilise their core business applications," said Keith Turnbull, vice president and general manager, Citrix Mobility Unit. "To enable this they expect their IT suppliers to work together to provide solutions that reduce the cost and complexity of going mobile. Citrix and Microsoft will assist enterprises by enabling universal mobile access to data to happen sooner and at lower cost."
