MACROMEDIA STUDIO MX BECOMES MOST POPULAR PRODUCT IN COMPANY HISTORY

More than a quarter million developers make "essential upgrade" to Macromedia Studio MX

Utrecht - November 29, 2002 - Macromedia, Inc. (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced that more than 250,000 customers have adopted Macromediaâ Studio MX since its introduction in June, making it the most successful offering in Macromedia history. Macromedia today also announced that the €799 introductory price will end on December 31, 2002, at which time the cost will increase to €899. Until that time, customers still have the chance to purchase a full copy at the low introductory price or upgrade to Macromedia Studio MX from any version of any qualifying Macromedia product.

Macromedia Studio MX (http://www.macromedia.com/go/studiomx/) is the essential suite of integrated tools for developing the full spectrum of Internet solutions, from simple HTML to the emerging class of rich Internet applications. Macromedia Studio MX includes Macromedia Dreamweaverâ MX, Macromedia FlashÔ MX, Macromedia Fireworksâ MX, Macromedia FreeHandâ 10, and a developer edition of ColdFusionâ MX. Leading web developers and companies including Cisco Systems and Paramount Digital Entertainment have adopted the latest versions of the Macromedia MX product family.

Orange Design is an industry leader in Macromedia Flash application development for the web, wireless, and devices. Clients include LucasArts Entertainment, Goodby Silverstein and Partners, and Gap, Inc. Orange used Macromedia Studio MX and Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX to develop the Crave Calvin Klein SuperEditor, a unique multiuser video game on http://www.cravecalvinklein.com/.

Recently, Carbon Five completed an interactive Marketing Planning Calendar application for Charles Schwab and a multiplayer gaming engine for Calvin Klein using Macromedia Flash MX.

Current upgrade prices and upgrade eligibility are available through December 31, 2002. Effective January 1, 2003, upgrade prices will increase from €399 to €499 for customers upgrading to Studio MX from two eligible Macromedia products and from €599 to €699 for customers upgrading to Studio MX from one eligible Macromedia product.

Also effective January 1, 2003, customers will be able to upgrade to the latest version of a product only from the two previous versions of that product.
