SAN JOSE, Calif. USA, November 11, 2002 -- Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTEC), for more than two decades the company behind the global software standard at the core of hundreds of millions of PC systems and connected digital devices, has expanded its European Global Sales and Support Division (GSSD) with a new regional headquarters in The Netherlands. Phoenix also added two executives to oversee the operation. Barry Broere is vice president and general manager, and Kees Mulder is vice president of sales. They are responsible for all sales and support functions, including OEM, system builder, and reseller channel teams.
“We are aggressively driving more business opportunities in Europe, the largest economy of the worldwide markets,” said David L. Gibbs, Senior Vice President and General Manager of GSSD. “Our priority is to expand our presence in the system builder channel, which accounts for about 58 percent of worldwide PC sales. For many years, Phoenix has been providing the most advanced technology to help system builders increase their market share. With our expanded European operations, we’re reinforcing our commitment to them.”
The new Phoenix executives contribute key skills to the European operation. Working separately and as business partners, Mr. Broere and Mr. Mulder have built strong careers in sales and marketing. They were executives and board members for Colorbus Inc., a developer of controllers for digital copier manufacturers such as Xerox, Canon and Ricoh, and they headed the international operations of HCS Technology with EMEA and APAC channel responsibilities for full color copiers and printers.
In addition, Mr. Broere held various general management positions with Nashua Corporation in Europe and Canada. He studied economics and law. Mr. Mulder was marketing manager for Sharp Business Equipment at the Samas Group in the Netherlands. He holds an equivalent of an MBA in marketing from The Netherlands.
Phoenix now has four operating regions within its GSSD, including Japan, Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and Europe. The European region will be responsible for covering all product sales and support within continental Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia.
