Shell Chooses mySAP(tm) Enterprise Portal to Enhance Employee Productivity and Collaboration

The catalyst for Shell's purchase and deployment of mySAP EP was the company's need to integrate its diverse information systems, both SAP and non-SAP, into an integrated employee portal. Employees will have quick and easy access to a wide range of key enterprise systems as well as e-mail, databases, searches, and company-wide notification systems. Approximately 85,000 Shell employees around the world will access and use these functions by logging in once to a single, personalized portal interface. Roles will define employee access to data based on areas of responsibility and security clearance, and the portal will save employee-viewing preferences as defaults.

Shell anticipates that mastering its heterogeneous information systems through its implementation of mySAP Enterprise Portal will allow for company-wide cost reductions as a result of fewer data errors and better understanding of data in multiple contexts in addition to improving decision making and the successful conversion of new business opportunities.

Shell anticipates that the patented Drag&Relate(tm) functionality of mySAP Enterprise Portal will be particularly valuable. Using Drag&Relate(tm), a user can easily connect information from independent systems. For example, by dragging a part number from an asset management system to a geographical information system a user could map all installations of a type of equipment at a particular site.
