A new era in business communications for the provision of new services and applications begins today when Siemens Communications launches its Revision 8 Universality upgrade for the Realitis DX - the UK's leading PBX.
The new upgrade, which is backwards compatible for Realitis and iSDX systems throughout the market, will give users a radical change in the way they implement new services in the future. It also marks a major shift for the business communications market into the data world in terms of service provision.
Revision 8 has been designed to allow customers to buy smaller, targeted and highly cost-effective "Application Packs" for their network. This gives them the flexibility to buy to meet specific needs, rather than committing to the major expense of a total upgrade in order to operate perhaps just a few of its features. As part of this totally new concept in network upgrading, Siemens plans to launch these packs 3-4 times each year, rather than making customers wait for up to two years for the newest enhancements.
"Today's announcement is a significant step forward for Realitis DX and its ongoing position as an outstanding performer to business," said Kris Hardiman, Product Marketing Manager at Siemens Communications.
"It means that the DX you have in your equipment room can open the door to all the latest applications the market has to offer and for new services as they continue to be developed.
“This landmark move by Siemens gives DX users a more cost effective and targeted upgrade with all the clear advantages of flexibility and choice. It also future proofs the DX and opens the door for DX users into fully benefiting from the £6b that Siemens spends each year on research and development.” The new system will mean that customers will receive their upgrade within a few weeks of ordering. Siemens has plans to ultimately be able to "switch on" new services remotely and instantly.
"The Application Packs will be much cheaper than a conventional upgrade,” said Mr Hardiman. “They will give the customer just what they are looking for and they will be available more regularly, with delivery times unparalleled in this industry”.
The Realitis DX has been the backbone of UK business communications for more than a decade. Developments such as voicemail, ISDN, Automatic Call Distribution, Cordless telephony and Intelligent Call Routing have increased contactability and therefore customer service. This, coupled with the ability to support voice, data, text and video over existing telephone lines, makes the DX a total communication solution for any dynamic, demanding business communications environment. More than six million lines and 17,000 systems have been sold in the UK and internationally.
“Realitis DX has set a standard for others to follow ever since it hit the market,” said Mr Hardiman.
“Today’s announcement will maintain that position for years to come and guarantees Realitis users a seamless journey to wherever technology and associated applications take us”.
