Boston – Red Hat Summit 2015 – 23 juni 2015 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, introduceert het Red Hat Mobile Application Platform. Dit platform verenigt technologie van het in oktober 2014 overgenomen bedrijf FeedHenry met producten van Red Hat’s JBoss Middleware en OpenShift PaaS-portfolio en voegt daar enkele nieuwe mobiele diensten aan toe. Het platform biedt organisaties een complete technologie-stack waarmee
mobile-centric workloads met bestaande IT-infrastructuren geïntegreerd kunnen worden. Hierdoor neemt de complexiteit af en neemt de agility bij mobiele ontwikkelcycli toe.
Het
Red Hat Mobile Application Platform maakt het ontwikkelen van mobiele oplossingen makkelijker en sneller. Bovendien versnelt het de integratie, implementatie en het beheer van mobiele oplossingen door samenwerking mogelijk te maken tussen verschillende ontwikkelteams, zoals front-end applicatieontwikkelaars, back-end IT-integratie en DevOps teams. Red Hat kondigt ook de beschikbaarheid aan van een ontwikkelaarsoplossing in haar publieke cloud applicatieontwikkel- en hosting-omgeving,
OpenShift Online. Volledige ondersteuning voor het Red Hat Mobile Application Platform in productie-omgevingen via OpenShift Enterprise staat gepland voor volgend jaar.
Het Red Hat Mobile Application Platform biedt onder andere beveiliging, herbruikbare koppelingen met back-end systemen en gezamenlijke/ agile app-ontwikkeling. Wat betreft het uitbreiden van zeer complexe en geavanceerde applicaties voor mobiele apparaten, gelooft Red Hat dat een rijke set middleware-diensten de doorslaggevende factor zal zijn voor de volgende generatie PaaS-functionaliteiten. Door het Mobile Application Platform naar OpenShift te brengen, positioneert Red Hat zichzelf hiervoor en breidt het bedrijf haar visie voor
xPaaS-diensten verder uit.
De opensourceleverancier kondigde eveneens plannen aan voor een open source upstream project dat de FeedHenry-naam draagt. In dit project staat het ontwikkelen van spraakmakende open source mobiele technologie centraal, waaronder FeedHenry-technologie die door Red Hat open source is gemaakt. Hierdoor blijft het bedrijf trouw blijven aan het gedachtengoed van open source. De community zal het project naar verwachting volgend jaar naar buiten brengen.
