Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), marktleider in opensourceoplossingen, breidt zijn aanbod op Amazon Web Services uit met de toevoeging van Red Hat Enterprise MRG Grid via Red Hat Cloud Access.
Met Red Hat Cloud Access kunnen Red Hat-klanten hun abonnementen verplaatsen van traditionele on-premise servers en off-premise clouds die worden gehost door Red Hat Premier Certified Cloud Providers, zoals Amazon Web Services. Initieel bracht Red Hat in april 2010 zijn Red Hat Enterprise Linux abonnementen naar de cloud met Red Hat Cloud Access. Vandaag voegt het bedrijf het tweede product toe dat kan profiteren van het Red Hat Cloud Access programma, te weten Red Hat Enterprise MRG Grid abonnementen.
Red Hat Enterprise MRG bevat Messaging, Realtime en Grid functionaliteiten die betere prestaties, responstijd en compute grid management bieden. Enterprise MRG’s Grid technologie zorgt voor een uiterst schaalbaar en beheersbaar platform voor High Throughput Computing (HTC) en High Performance Computing (HPC) omgevingen. Daarnaast is planning mogelijk voor lokale grids, remote grids, virtuele machines en een gehuurde cloudinfrastructuur. Bij zijn lancering in 2008 was Enterprise MRG het eerste HPC product dat geïntegreerd kon worden met privé virtualisatie en publieke clouds.
Red Hat Enterprise MRG Grid is onlangs uitgebreid met Amazon Web Services via DevPay waardoor klanten hybride clouds kunnen realiseren of Enterprise MRG kunnen gebruiken in de cloud voor het beheren van het verkeer en voor HPC mogelijkheden op aanvraag. Dankzij Cloud Access kunnen klanten nu hun Red Hat abonnement gebruiken voor Enterprise MRG in Amazon Web Services deployments. Als een Red Hat Certified Cloud Provider stelt Amazon Web Services klanten in staat dezelfde afbeeldingen zowel on-premise als in de cloud te gebruiken via een in-cloud update dienst van Red Hat. Fouten en updates worden beschikbaar gesteld via de in-cloud dienst zodat klanten op een Red Hart Certified Public Cloud die een Cloud Access autorisatie hebben, erop kunnen vertrouwen dat zij beschikken over up-to-date afbeeldingen. Hiermee kunnen gebruikers op eenvoudige wijze duizenden servers beheren en bijwerken. Een belangrijk voordeel van Red Hat’s aanpak ten aanzien van cloud computing is dat het is gebouwd op gestandaardiseerde opensourcetechnologie dat een consistent applicatieplatform biedt in fysieke, virtuele en cloud omgevingen. Als het een keer is ontwikkeld, kan het overal worden ingezet. Dit geeft klanten de flexibiliteit nieuwe computing modellen te gebruiken aangezien ze willen dat hun business dicteert en kosteneffectief is. Daarnaast wordt de vendor lock-in die samenhangt met andere cloud computing oplossingen weggenomen.

Red Hat Enterprise MRG Grid is vanaf vandaag wereldwijd beschikbaar voor Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).
