Eindhoven, 21 november 2006 - Avocent Corporation heeft Stephen M. Daly benoemd tot General Manager van de LANDesk Software Division. Daly is nu nog Senior Vice-President Corporate Strategy van Avocent en start op 1 januari 2007 in zijn nieuwe functie.
"Met deze benoeming kan Stephen Daly zijn ervaring bij Avocent en LANDesk, toen dit nog een onderdeel van Intel was, optimaal benutten", zegt John Cooper, bestuursvoorzitter en CEO van Avocent. "Hij speelde een belangrijke rol bij het bepalen van onze groeistrategie voor de lange termijn, inclusief de overname van LANDesk. We zien in hem een belangrijke katalysator voor de integratie van LANDesk en Avocent en voor het versterken van onze positie in nieuwe markten, zoals servicemanagement."
Daly maakt al sinds 2003 deel uit van het Avocent-managementteam. Eerst als Senior Vice-President voor embedded solutions en later voor corporate strategy. Voor hij bij Avocent in dienst kwam, was hij onder andere CEO van Soronti, Inc. Deze leverancier van KVM-oplossingen is in 2003 door Avocent overgenomen. Daarvoor werkte Daly voor de systeembeheeractiviteiten van Intel, wat later LANDesk werd.
"LANDesk bevindt zich in een zeer uitdagende periode", aldus Daly. "We kunnen de kennis en middelen van Avocent benutten voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe LANDesk-oplossingen voor het beheer van systemen en beveiliging. Daarmee willen we onze marktpositie uitbreiden. Daarnaast gaan we nauw samenwerken met Avocent om onze complementaire hard- en softwaretechnologieën te integreren. Zo willen we innovatieve IT-beheeroplossingen met zeer geavanceerde mogelijkheden voor onze klanten ontwikkelen."
