CUPERTINO, Calif. and REDWOOD SHORES, August 31, 2005 – Oracle and Zend Technologies, Inc., the PHP company, today announced the availability of the beta version of Zend Core for Oracle. This version is available as a free download from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) and the Zend Web site.
The production version of Zend Core for Oracle, available later this year, will deliver a fully tested and supported environment that provides tight integration between Oracle® Database and Zend’s supported PHP environment. It enables developers to get up and running in minutes with PHP, the popular open source Web development language, using an Oracle infrastructure. Zend Core for Oracle also delivers an updated PHP “OCI8” driver, providing enhanced reliability, stability and performance for Oracle Database-driven Web applications.
Zend provides support for Zend Core for Oracle via the Zend Network, a comprehensive service and support system delivering enterprise-quality updates and support to PHP developers. Zend Core for Oracle is also compatible with existing Zend products such as Zend Platform and Zend Studio.

Oracle and Zend Introduce “Deploy PHP” Technical Series for Developers
OTN, in collaboration with Zend, has launched a series of technical articles addressing topics such as accelerating PHP code performance with Oracle, data security for PHP applications, and more, at the PHP Developer Center on the OTN Web site.
The site also features technical resources for the PHP developer community, including installation guides for PHP with Oracle Application Server and Oracle Database, an online forum and Oracle JDeveloper 10g PHP extension. Also available as a free download, this PHP extension makes it easier to develop, test and deploy PHP applications using Oracle JDeveloper 10g development environment.

Oracle offers a downloadable beta version of Zend Core for Oracle today from OTN here. Zend Core for Oracle is also available for download at the Zend site: www.zend.com/core/oracle/. The production version of Zend Core for Oracle is scheduled to be available later this year.
