BT ACQUIRES CW BUSINESS SOLUTIONS IN SPAIN
BT today announces the acquisition of CW Business Solutions S.L.U. (Spain) from Cable and Wireless plc for Euro 6 million. The unit will be integrated into BT Spain under the leadership of Luis Alvarez, country manager for Spain.
CW Business Solutions provides major corporate and public sector organisations with networked IT services such as the design and implementation of LAN/WAN propositions within single managed solutions. It also provides connectivity and hosting, including business continuity and disaster recovery services, to some of the main media companies and enterprises in Spain. CW Business Solutions S.L.U., a subsidiary of Cable & Wireless plc, employs 33 people and currently serves around 170 corporate customers in Spain.
This acquisition, in line with BT Group's strategy of consolidating international operations through BT Global Services, strengthens BT's position in the Spanish corporate market place. This will build on BT's current growth in the Spanish market where BT growth currently outstrips the market average
François Barrault, president BT International, said: "this is a great opportunity for BT to strengthen its successful operations in Spain by integrating significant new capabilities as well as an important customer base in key sectors such as finance and government. This acquisition will enable us to grow faster by serving our customers needs more efficiently. We are delighted to welcome our new colleagues to the BT family".
