BT heeft een zevenjarig contract gesloten met Barclays voor de levering van een uitgebreide netwerkinfrastructuur voor alle bankvestigingen in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Deze overeenkomst vertegenwoordigt, inclusief al bestaande contracten, in zeven jaar een waarde van meer dan GPB 500 miljoen. BT levert binnen deze overeenkomst een beveiligd op IP gebaseerd WAN en LAN. Ook spraakdiensten vallen onder het contract. Hiermee heeft de bank voor de toekomst een flexibel platform voor de ontwikkeling en levering van verbeterde diensten. De verwachting is dat Barclays tijdens de looptijd van het contract een efficiëntiewinst van meer dan 30 procent haalt. BT SIGNS NEW VOICE AND DATA COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE DEAL WITH BARCLAYS
Barclays and BT have announced a seven-year contract for the provision of an enhanced communications infrastructure for Barclays UK operations. The value of these services, including existing business over the seven years, is expected to be in excess of £500m.
The new contract is for provision of a secure IP-based Wide Area Network, Local Area Network and voice services, providing a flexible platform for the development and delivery of improved services in the future.
By moving to state-of-the-art, IP-based technology, BT expects Barclays to achieve efficiency savings of more than 30 per cent over the life of the contract.

"We're delighted to continue our work with Barclays, helping them to deploy IT and networking services in ways that will bring the most strategic value to their business and customers."
Barclays were advised by Xantus Consulting, independent IT advisors.
