The International Association of Contract and Commercial Managers (IACCM) has named IBM the overall winner of its Contracts and Negotiations Excellence Award. The annual Award recognizes international companies with the best approaches to process, organization and governance.
Arthur Kentros, Vice President, Global Business Development, will accept the award on behalf of IBM at the IACCM EMEA Conference in Amsterdam from November 14th - 16th, 2004. This annual conference will focus on excellence in commercial and contract management as a tool for achieving competitive advantage. The event web-site: www.iaccm.com/emea.
IACCM is a nonprofit association with members from more than 80 countries and over 750 corporations. Its cross-industry membership is made up of contract and commercial managers, negotiators, and others directly involved in the sales and procurement process. IACCM's mission is to raise the status, profile and professionalism of commercial contracting and negotiating.
Through IACCM’s annual benchmarking series, IBM achieved the highest combined rating in four critical measurement and characteristics areas:
overall process efficiency, knowledge management, resource deployment and empowerment and organizational effectiveness. This year, 183 corporations participated in the benchmarking process that determined the winners of the
2004 IACCM Annual Contracts and Negotiations Excellence Awards. Past winners include Hewlett-Packard, Lucent Technologies, Principal Financial Group and EDS.
Tim Cummins, Executive Director of IACCM, noted that, "IBM is a great example of a company that has transformed its contract and negotiations capabilities on a global basis. This has enabled it to react fast and efficiently to the demands of the digital economy - an environment that increasingly relies upon complex networks of teaming, partnership, alliances and outsourcing. IBM is leading the way in defining competitive advantage by speed, simplicity and low transaction costs." He added, "At a time when Corporate Governance and business integrity are such high-profile, strategic business issues, the quality of a company’s negotiating and contract management processes defines its ability to make and honor business commitments - and therefore its reputation and image."
In addition to extensive original research and benchmarking, IACCM’s member services include skills assessment and certification, world-wide meetings, events and training. IACCM also undertakes a growing range of cooperative studies with leading corporations, associations and government agencies.
