PRESS RElEASE
BT ENTERS POLISH TECHNOLOGY MARKET
BT announced today the opening of its Warsaw office and the launch of increased activities in Poland, in order to serve multi-site organisations active in the region with a full range of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions.
Recognised as a leading provider of managed services and solutions for multi-site organisations with European operations (*), BT sees the EU enlargement as an opportunity for its customers to gain competitive advantage by harnessing the economies and productivity of Central and Eastern Europe in general, and Poland in particular. BT also sees in Poland an important market for ICT services and outsourcing, with very promising growth prospects.
BT confirmed today the immediate availability in Poland of its portfolio of ICT solutions for large organisations, including its IP infrastructure, application assured infrastructure, application management services, outsourced contact centres and managed mobility services (**).
François Barrault, president BT International, said: "BT's transformation from a traditional voice business into an information and communications technology company is continuing at pace. Our financial results for the first quarter of the current financial year show that we reap the benefits of having been an early adopter of new technologies such as broadband, ICT, mobility, managed services, VoiP or 21st Century Network. The rewards of that foresight are now coming through with new wave revenues booming- up by more than 30 per cent yet again in Q1. Developing our presence in Central and Eastern Europe is also be an important building block for our future growth, and we are very excited at the prospect of engaging organisations in Poland with our full portfolio of services."
Aad van Waveren, vice-president strategic operations, said: "We have been active in Central Europe since 1999 with a skilled team of professionals, serving our existing international customers, and focusing on their regional requirements. A regional customer service centre is in operation. In recent months we have been actively engaging potential customers locally as well, with growing success. We have the ambition of increasing our penetration in Poland, by bringing the whole range of solutions made available to multi-site organisations active in the region. To support this effort, we can count on BT's world class international teams. The office we are opening in Warsaw today will host Polish sales and services team, while putting in place new regional marketing resources."
