ATLANTA – July 27, 2004 –Seagull Software (AEX: SEAGULL), a leading provider of legacy-aware composite application development technologies, today announced its acceptance into the IBM Portal Provider Program. The combination of Seagull Software’s LegaSuite® solutions and IBM WebSphere Portal enables customer to rapidly develop composite applications that blend business processes across application silos, and present them to users via personalized portal front-ends. LegaSuite automates the development of legacy connectors that integrate proprietary legacy applications into the IBM WebSphere Portal environment.
“For many composite application development projects underway today, portals are the new user interface,” said Don Addington, CEO and president for Seagull Software. “As enterprises think about deploying a portal architecture, access to legacy applications on various platforms will be a requirement. LegaSuite makes it easy for the WebSphere Portal framework to incorporate legacy business functions.”
Under the terms of the agreement, Seagull Software receives access to certain products and services from IBM as required to implement, test and market LegaSuite support for WebSphere Portal.
Seagull Software customers are already using LegaSuite in conjunction with IBM WebSphere Portal, seamlessly delivering legacy applications to the portal desktop. The Company’s strategy includes continued expansion of the application environments that can be liberated with LegaSuite, which today include IBM mainframe, ICL mainframe, iSeries, UNIX, Windows and Web applications.
“We have thousands of IBM customers who already use LegaSuite products for Web enablement, integration and terminal emulation,” said Mr. Addington. “We’re committed to providing strong support for IBM WebSphere Portal as these mutual customers move to portal-based architectures.”
