Utrecht, 15 oktober 2003 - Trend Micro (TSE: 4704, Nasdaq: TMIC), leider op het gebied van netwerkantivirus- en internet-content-beveiligingssoftware en -diensten, heeft David Kopp aangesteld als directeur van het EMEA-onderzoekslaboratorium TrendLabs(tm). Kopp heeft een sterke achtergrond op het gebied van onderzoek en ontwikkeling. Hij werkt al enige tijd bij Trend Micro en heeft onder andere pattern files ontwikkeld tegen kwaadaardige code. Daarnaast ontwikkelde Kopp procedures voor de reparatie van schade, veroorzaakt door slecht functionerende hard- en software. Tevens heeft hij diepgaand onderzoek gedaan naar gedragspatronen in kwaadaardige code en de levenscyclus van virusuitbraken. In zijn functie als directeur van TrendLabs is hij verantwoordelijk voor de onderzoeksactiviteiten naar bedreigingen van computers en netwerken. Op basis van deze informatie verzekert TrendLabs dat klanten van Trend Micro profiteren van een optimale bescherming tegen bedreigingen.

Trend Micro Appoints David Kopp as Head of its Research Laboratory TrendLabs EMEA.
- New TrendLabs Leader Selected for Strong Research and Development Skills -
Marlow, UK - xxth October, 2003 - Trend Micro Inc (TSE: 4704; Nasdaq: TMIC), a leader in network antivirus and Internet content security software and services, today announced the appointment of David Kopp as Head of its EMEA research laboratories, TrendLabs(tm). Selected for his strong research and development background, David will be responsible for leading research into latest computer malware, to ensure that Trend Micro customers receive high quality protection against emerging threats.

After graduating from the University of Strasbourg with a PhD in Maths, David entered the IT security Industry. As well as developing diverse programming skills, he built up strong knowledge and experience of a wide-range of security areas, including firewall, intrusion detection, packet and URL filtering, before specialising in antivirus research. Since joining Trend Micro, David has successfully developed pattern files (antidotes) to malicious code and clean-up procedures to help customers repair any damage caused by computer malware, post-virus outbreak. He has also produced in-depth research on malicious code behavioural patterns, and virus outbreak lifecycles.
