McAfee GroupShield 6.0 for Microsoft Exchange Beta Provides Next Generation of Microsoft Exchange Servers with Anti-virus, Anti-Spam and Content Filtering
MICROSOFT WORLDWIDE PARTNER CONFERENCE 2003, NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 9 -- Network Associates, Inc. (NYSE: NET), the leading provider of intrusion prevention solutions, today announced plans for McAfee(R) GroupShield(TM) 6.0 for Microsoft(R) Exchange. McAfee GroupShield will deliver advanced content management and an optional McAfee SpamKiller anti-spam add-on to protect Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003 platforms from today's most advanced email threats. Currently in beta, McAfee GroupShield 6.0 will build on the success of McAfee GroupShield and its proven McAfee anti-virus detection, cleaning, and content filtering capabilities.

McAfee GroupShield offers secure content management capabilities that allow IT managers to set up rules to qualify email when it is received or before it is sent, both internally and externally. Undesirable content, such as profanity or sexist or racist subject matter, can be filtered before it enters the corporate network, preventing legal and productivity issues that can arise when employees receive offensive e-mail messages. McAfee GroupShield also includes McAfee Outbreak Manager to proactively prevent large-scale mass mailer outbreaks and McAfee Alert Manager to provide IT administrators with unparalleled notification to malicious threats.
McAfee GroupShield leverages the Microsoft VS-API 2.5, a built-in anti-virus scanning API in Microsoft Exchange 2003, to provide secure high performance scanning of all message bodies and message attachments, sent or received, from Outlook Web Access Client, or Microsoft Outlook clients. With McAfee GroupShield, Microsoft customers benefit from an added layer of defense that incorporates virus detection, cleaning and content filtering and blocking, for complete anti-virus defense against viruses, worms and Trojans.
