AEON, Japan's Leading Retailer, Standardizes on BroadVision Enterprise Portal Applications
AEON's Enterprise Portal Will Be the Largest for a Company in Japan
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., (Nasdaq: BVSN - News), the leading provider of enterprise portal applications, recently announced that AEON, Japan's leading retail group, has chosen BroadVision® enterprise portal applications as the infrastructure for a comprehensive e-business solution serving all its companies worldwide.
AEON was looking for an enterprise portal solution that would increase employee productivity by providing centralized access to applications and information dispersed throughout the organization and by providing individual users with information and applications appropriate to their roles, responsibilities, organizations and duties within the company. Additionally, AEON was looking for a solution that would leverage information management tools already in operation and support the company's goal of paperless operations for time/attendance management and other applications used by AEON's 230,000 employees.
BroadVision was selected because it could meet these goals with a pre-configured, pre-integrated application suite that could be up and running in a shorter timeframe than other products under consideration. BroadVision's open system and standards-based technology infrastructure were also key factors in the selection process, ensuring easy connectivity to AEON's other business systems.
"BroadVision is one of the key technologies allowing us to integrate our IT resources and build a global IT infrastructure for AEON," said Mr. Atsunobu Agata, CIO of the AEON group. "BroadVision's solution will help us effectively leverage current and future IT resources to provide global level business processes and establish an environment that fully supports group synergy."
AEON's initial portal deployment will provide knowledge workers with self-service access to information in back-office systems. In future deployments, AEON will use enterprise portals to share information between multiple constituents -- customers, suppliers and employees -- and support their collaboration.
"We are proud to add AEON to the list of leading global retail companies -- including Wal-Mart, Sears and Circuit City -- that have selected BroadVision applications as their platform of choice for their enterprise e-business initiatives," said Dr. Pehong Chen, president and CEO, BroadVision. "We look forward to helping them achieve a rapid, successful deployment and believe that AEON's success will inspire others to achieve business value using BroadVision's proven solutions."
