MOF is Microsoft's structured approach to help customers achieve operational excellence on the Microsoft platform. 'MOF, a pocket guide' is a description of Microsoft's Operations Framework: a set of best practices, principles and models that is meant to expand, not substitute, best practice ITIL. Microsoft's director of MOF, Bret Clarck, illustrates this by quoting sir Isaac Newton: "If I see further, it is because I stand on the shoulders of giants".
MOF pays a lot of attention to Operations Management, one of the lesser-developed areas of the core publications of ITIL. MOF enhances ITIL's collaborative industry standard with guidance in the operation of IT products and technologies, in particular Microsoft's. The generic part of the book though, is suitable for other platforms and systems as well.
The pocket guide was written by Dave Pultorak and Pete Quagliariello, both from Pulturak Associates (USA), and Rolf Akker from Inform-IT (NL). An international review board of IT Service Management specialists, from internationally recognized organizations, was selected to ensure a high level of quality.
'MOF, a pocket guide' was edited by Inform-IT (http://www.inform-it.org), an editorial office in The Netherlands responsible for the development, production and distribution of many publications and innovations in the field of IT Service Management. The book is published by Van Haren Publishing (http://www.vanharen.net).
