11 March 2003 - Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS), a leader in enterprise infrastructure software and services, announced today that the Network Manager component of Citrix® MetaFrame XP(tm)e software has been certified as Ready for Tivoli(tm) integration with IBM (NYSE:IBM) Tivoli NetView technology management software. The Ready for Tivoli certification verifies that Network Manager has been tested and validated for seamless integration with Tivoli NetView. This joint solution allows administrators to monitor and manage their Citrix MetaFrame XPe server farms from Tivoli NetView. By using a single, familiar interface to access the information required to keep server farms running at peak performance, administrators can achieve significant cost and time savings.
"Providing management and monitoring capabilities from one central location is a critical component for successful network deployments," said Steve Kleynhans, vice president at META Group. "The integration of enhanced network management capabilities for server-based computing environments with 3rd party management frameworks provides organisations with a complete solution for managing all of their servers, network, databases and other resources, without having to reconfigure their processes or retrain IT staff."
"Tivoli NetView provides traditional network management that allows administrators to ensure the availability of critical business systems and provide rapid resolution to problems, guaranteeing peak system performance," said Bob Madey, vice president, performance, availability, configuration and operations, Tivoli Software, IBM. "The integration with Citrix Network Manager enables our joint customers to monitor the health and performance of their MetaFrame servers and server farms from a single console."
Citrix Network Manager, a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) alerting and reporting tool, provides information on various management aspects of MetaFrame XPe, such as performance counters, licensing and process information, and server data, helping administrators ensure peak performance of server farms. Advanced server management functions, which enable administrators to monitor servers, applications, licenses, printers and users from any location, are available through the Citrix Management Console (CMC), a capability within Network Manager. Through a Network Manager plug-in designed specifically for Tivoli, administrators can launch the CMC to perform server farm management tasks directly from Tivoli NetView.
"Our customers rely on Citrix not only for access to business applications and simplified application deployment, but also for centralised and efficient server farm administration," said Brian Nason, Citrix's business line director, client-server products. "By offering seamless integration with Tivoli's management software, Citrix can provide our customers with true end-to-end IT management functionality."
The Ready for Tivoli integration is available in MetaFrame XPe.
