announced that Ray Smets has been named president of the Sniffer
Technologies business unit. In this role, Smets will be responsible for
the strategic direction, profitability and technology development of the
Sniffer Technologies business unit.
Prior to joining Network Associates, Smets spent 16 years with BellSouth
Corporation in various areas of telecommunications, launching new
technology ventures and moving the company into new markets. Most
recently, Smets served as a corporate officer and vice president of
network transformation for BellSouth. Smets also helped establish new
business ventures, serving as president of the Internet business unit
BellSouth.net and president of a professional services business unit that
focused on the development of carrier-grade operations systems.

Smets earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the
University of Florida, and a master of business administration degree from
Nova-Southeastern University.
