- Majority of Citrix Customers Expect Global IT Budgets to Increase in 2003
4 November 2002 - Today at Citrix iForum(tm) 2002 (www.citrixiforum.com), Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), a global leader in virtual workplace software and services, and market research company Edge Research
(www.edgeresearch.com) announced key findings in a customer survey of technology issues and IT spending trends. The results of the survey indicated that security and cost savings are top concerns for application deployment, and four out of five respondents expect their companies' IT
spending to either increase or stay the same in 2003.
"It is clear from the results of the survey that these key IT decision makers value centralised management of applications and information in heterogeneous computing environments," said Jon Kulok, managing director for Edge Research. "The results also reveal that secure access to information and applications, regardless of location, is key to system reliability, staff productivity and cost control."
Survey Results
* Deployment of Web Applications - 36 percent of respondents
said they are using portal software within their organisations to provide central access to both Web content and business applications. More than half stated that they are not currently using portal software, citing cost, time commitment and perceived complexity as the main deterrents for not deploying portal software.
This feedback demonstrates the significant market
opportunity for Citrix's recently launched NFuse® Elite access portal server software, which is a quick-to-deploy, cost-effective portal solution. NFuse Elite was designed for simple, easy implementation and can be installed in less than an hour - giving an organisation powerful portal functionality almost immediately. With a feature set that emphasises access, security and straightforward administration, NFuse Elite offers substantial benefits to both network administrators and end-users.
* Access Security - Over 65 percent of respondents said that
they use four or more access security control features as part of their current information systems. The top four security measures currently implemented are: username/password, authentication/ authorisation, encryption and digital certificates. These results indicated the importance of security solutions to integrate multiple access control features, such as Citrix Secure Gateway.
* IT Spending - Almost 80 percent of Citrix customers stated
they expect their companies' IT spending to either increase or stay the same in 2003. On average, respondents anticipate the global IT market to increase by 13 percent within the next 14 months, with more than 50 percent citing market recovery by the end of the third quarter of 2003.
"Secure deployment of Web applications and simple, cost-effective portal implementation tools are top priorities for our customers. We think the survey feedback reinforces our strategy of providing software that enables unlimited information access," said David Jones, senior vice president of corporate marketing and development for Citrix.
