Schiphol-Rijk (Nederland), 14 oktober 2002 -- Imation, een van de grootste leveranciers van data-opslagmedia, verwacht een substantieel hogere omzet- en winstgroei in het derde kwartaal dat eindigt op 30 september 2002, zo blijkt uit voorlopige resultaten. Door de groter dan verwachte vraag naar data-opslagproducten, verwacht Imation dat de omzet twintig procent hoger zal zijn en zal uitkomen op ongeveer 250 miljoen dollar. In dezelfde periode een jaar eerder was de omzet 206,6 miljoen dollar.
De winst uit normale bedrijfsvoering van de gehele onderneming zal in het derde kwartaal uitkomen tussen de 25 en 28 miljoen dollar, een winst per aandeel tussen de 45 dollarcent en de 49 dollarcent. De eerdere verwachting was een winst per aandeel van ongeveer 30 dollarcent. In dezelfde periode een jaar eerder was de winst per aandeel 29 dollarcent.
Imation maakt op dinsdag 22 oktober aanstaande de definitieve resultaten van het derde kwartaal bekend.
