1 October 2002 – Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), a global leader in virtual workplace software and services, today announced it has established a Centre of Excellence for SAP in the PartnerPort at the global headquarters of SAP AG in Walldorf, Germany. The Centre of Excellence for SAP provides specialised, focused resources that will help Citrix and SAP offer innovative solutions to customers for deploying SAP® applications and upgrades quickly and efficiently.
Citrix solutions for SAP customers address their need to rapidly deploy mySAP.com® e-business software solutions across the extended enterprise – while simultaneously lowering the TCO for technology infrastructure. Citrix solutions provide centralised application management and the ability to access SAP applications anywhere, from any device, over any network connection.
As an SAP Global Technology Partner, Citrix collaborates with SAP to optimise the performance of SAP cross-industry solutions deployed on Citrix technology. Citrix also works with SAP on technical integration and joint development, as well as coordinating worldwide marketing and technical support activities.
Citrix has established the Centre of Excellence within the PartnerPort at the SAP global headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, which is a building within the SAP campus dedicated to SAP partners. As a result, Citrix is able to further develop joint opportunities related to SAP solutions with other corporations that have established a presence in the area, while strengthening its relationship with SAP.
“With a solid presence at SAP headquarters, we can extend our value to SAP and its partners and customers by offering innovative solutions for application deployment,” said David Jones, senior vice president of corporate marketing and development for Citrix. “Customers deploying mySAP.com solutions on Citrix technology not only save time through rapid application deployment and simplified network administration, but also reduce their total cost of ownership through higher performance over existing devices and connections.”
A visit to the Citrix Centre of Excellence for SAP encouraged leading UK food producer Northern Foods to extend its use of Citrix technologies. With a turnover of £1.5 billion, Northern Foods produces high quality chilled foods under the labels of major retailers and also owns the Fox’s Biscuits, Pork Farms, Dalepak and Goodfella’s Pizza brands. Northern Foods is mid-way through a company-wide roll out of SAP solutions, and is currently using Citrix® MetaFrame® application serving software to deliver applications to a number of its existing 5000 users.
Mark Ruttley, Northern Foods IT executive, visited the competence centre and commented afterwards, “The visit showed just how complementary the Citrix and SAP products really are. Using the SAP software solutions in conjunction with other applications on Citrix MetaFrame can be very cost effective, and we are now considering using Citrix technologies more widely.”
