Amsterdam, 3 november 2016 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, kondigt de algemene beschikbaarheid aan van Ansible 2.2, de nieuwste versie van het eenvoudige, krachtige en
agentless open source IT automation framework. Ansible 2.2 biedt prestatieverbeteringen, uitgebreide container- en Windows-automatiseringsmogelijkheden, een aantal nieuwe modules, waaronder voor netwerken, cloud provider-platformen en uitgebreide vault-ondersteuning.
Het upstream Ansible-project is één van de populairste opensourceautomatiseringsprojecten op
GitHub met een actieve en zeer betrokken community. Een breed scala aan organisaties, waaronder Fortune 100-bedrijven, gebruik Ansible automatisering om grote en complexe private cloud-omgevingen te beheren. Met Ansible kunnen ontwikkelaars en IT operations-teams sneller en gemakkelijker IT-toepassingen en -omgevingen implementeren. Daarbij kunnen ze de barrières tussen IT- teams verwijderen, doordat routinematige activiteiten geautomatiseerd worden, waaronder netwerkconfiguratie, cloud-implementaties en de creatie van ontwikkelomgevingen.
Ansible 2.2 houdt het
upstream-momentum voor Ansible vast met de introductie van een aantal nieuwe functies, waaronder:
Containers
Met de nieuwe docker-netwerkfunctionaliteit kunnen gebruikers docker-machine-omgevingen beheren en tegelijkertijd hun netwerklagen automatiseren. In combinatie met het
Ansible container-project, kunnen gebruikers nu meer aspecten van hun containerontwikkeling en implementatiepijpleidingen controleren, inclusief hoe containers via een netwerk communiceren.
Netwerken
Het aantal netwerkmodules dat in Ansible wordt ondersteund, is gegroeid, doordat meer gebruikers netwerkautomatisering als prioriteit zijn gaan zien. Sinds de release van Ansible 2.1 in
mei 2016 is het aantal door Ansible ondersteunde netwerkplatformen gegroeid van tien naar twintig, en het totale aantal in Ansible beschikbare netwerkmodules is meer dan verdubbeld. Deze netwerkmodules omvatten nu meer dan 20 procent van het totale aantal in Ansible beschikbare modules, evenals tal van bijdragen van zowel de Ansible-community als van netwerkpartners.
Ansible 2.2 breidt de netwerkondersteuning uit met:
- Aanvullende ondersteuning voor netwerkapparaten van meerdere leveranciers, waaronder Cisco (ASA), Dell, F5 Networks, Nokia SR-OS, Pluribus Networks (Open Netvisor) en VyOS.
- Uitgebreide en verbeterde Cisco NX-OS-ondersteuning biedt modules die ontworpen zijn om het voor klanten gemakkelijker maken om met automatisering Virtual Extensible LAN (VxLAN) programmeerbare datacenter fabrics te operationaliseren.
Cloud-diensten
Ansible 2.2 brengt prestatieverbeteringen voor cloud-diensten, op het Windows Azure-platform en VMware cloud-infrastructuren. Verder is er nieuwe functionaliteit voor cloud-providers toegevoegd, waaronder: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform en OpenStack providers. Ansible 2.2 bevat nieuwe
VMware virtual machine-beheermodules en ondersteunt nieuwe
AWS-mogelijkheden, waaronder Amazon Elastic System File (EFS), Amazon Redshift en AWS Lambda.
Andere verbeteringen in de Ansible 2,2 release zijn Ansible Roles, en het op zichzelf staande,
portable en herbruikbare Ansible Playbook-formaat. Beide zijn bijgewerkt om te zorgen voor meer flexibiliteit voor de gebruiker. Toekomstige
Ansible ontwikkel-roadmaps zijn beschikbaar in het Ansible community GitHub-project en opengesteld voor commentaar.
