Amsterdam, 4 september 2014 —Cisco (NYSE: CSCO) en Red Hat (NYSE: RHT) kondigen een nieuwe geïntegreerde oplossing voor OpenStack cloud-implementaties aan. De bedrijven breiden bovendien hun samenwerking rond OpenStack, Application Centric Infrastructure en Intercloud verder uit.
Cisco is marktleider op het gebied van geïntegreerde infrastructuren – een snel groeiend marktsegment waar servers, networking, storage en management software onder vallen. De nieuwe Cisco UCS Integrated Infrastructure-oplossingen zijn gericht op de enterprise markt en het middensegment en stroomlijnen de implementatie en het beheer van OpenStack private clouds. Geïntegreerde infrastructuur voor OpenStack
- Het Cisco UCS Integrated Infrastructure portfolio bevat alle belangrijke bouwstenen die nodig zijn voor het ondersteunen van private, publieke en hybride clouds. De architectuur combineert de UCS-servers met Nexus-switches, UCS Director management en storage access en stelt daarmee organisaties in staat applicaties en cloud-diensten eenvoudig uit te rollen.
- De UCSO oplossing zal naar verwachting drie proposities kennen: een Starter Edition waarmee snel en eenvoudig enterprise private clouds te installeren zijn, een Advanced Edition voor een snelle uitrol en besturing van grote private clouds, en een Advanced ACI Edition waarmee een policy-driven uitrol mogelijk is en ook bijzonder grote clouds te besturen zijn met behulp van Cisco’s ACI.
- Klanten krijgen 24x7 ondersteuning voor de producten van Cisco en Red Hat. Bovendien hebben ze ook een optie voor Solution Support. Een team van experts staat dan 24x7 klaar om de klant van dienst te zijn.
- UCSO Starter Edition zal naar verwachting eind 2014 algemeen beschikbaar zijn. Gekwalificeerde channel partners en Cisco Cloud Consulting Services zullen de implementaties van deze oplossingen mogelijk maken.
Uitbreiding van de samenwerking
- Na een jarenlange samenwerking op het gebied van unified computing en networking gaan Cisco en Red Hat de samenwerking op drie terreinen intensiveren: OpenStack, Application Centric Infrastructure en Intercloud. Tezamen beogen Cisco en Red Hat bedrijven en service providers Intercloud-ready OpenStack-oplossingen te bieden.
- OpenStack: Cisco en Red Hat werken samen om volledig ondersteunde, gecertificeerde platformen te ontwikkelen om zo opensourceinnovatie en geoptimaliseerde functionaliteit mogelijk te maken. De bedrijven gaan zich daarbij onder andere richten op het leveren van gevalideerde architecturen, het aanjagen van het groeiende ISV- en IHV-ecosysteem, governance voor verschillende clouds en verbeterde services voor het lifecycle management van cloud-oplossingen.
- Application Centric Infrastructure: Cisco en Red Hat gaan het Cisco ACI policy framework voor OpenStack-omgevingen uitbreiden, zodat klanten hun policy-based automatisering nog beter in hun cloud-omgevingen in kunnen zetten.
- Intercloud: Red Hat is een markleider op het gebied van opensourcetechnologie en zodoende een integraal onderdeel van Cisco's Intercloud ecosysteem. Naast het ontwikkelen van een geïntegreerde oplossing voor enterprises en middelgrote klanten, willen Cisco en Red Hat ook carrier-grade, service provider-oplossingen maken voor het Cisco Evolved Services Platform - Cisco’s software en virtualisatie platform voor hybride cloud-implementaties. Red Hat en Cisco werken ook samen rond OpenShift, Red Hat’s prijswinnende Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) oplossing, en storage technologie, waaronder Ceph.
