Amsterdam, 4 december 2013 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, kondigt de beschikbaarheid aan van OpenShift Enterprise 2, de nieuwste versie van Red Hat’s on-premise private Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) product. Met OpenShift Enterprise 2 kunnen klanten de snelheid, efficiëntie en schaalbaarheid van hun IT-dienstverlening verhogen, sneller nieuwe applicaties ontwikkelen en een kortere time-to-market realiseren. Dankzij krachtige nieuwe functies, waaronder datacenter infrastructuur integratie, een geavanceerde administratie console, de ondersteuning van meer programmeertalen en nieuwe samenwerkingsmogelijkheden, evenals een grotere beschikbaarheid, kunnen ontwikkelaars profiteren van de voordelen van de private PaaS-technologie voor cloud-implementaties.
OpenShift Enterprise werd
geïntroduceerd in november 2012 en is een cruciaal component in Red Hat’s visie omtrent de open hybride cloud. Het biedt een on-demand, elastische, schaalbare en volledige geconfigureerde omgeving voor applicatieontwikkeling voor het testen en hosten voor applicatieontwikkelaars. Hierdoor kunnen zij zich richten op het programmeren van nieuwe applicatiediensten. OpenShift Enterprise automatiseert veel van de provisioning en het systeembeheer van de applicatieplatform-stack op een dusdanige manier dat IT-teams makkelijker aan de toenemende bedrijfseisen voor nieuwe applicatiediensten kunnen voldoen. OpenShift Enterprise is gebouwd op een stack van open source Red Hat-technologieën, waaronder Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform en OpenShift Origin- het open source PaaS project dat de basis vormt van alle OpenShift PaaS-platformen.
Sinds de lancering in november 2012 zijn meer dan 45 functies toegevoegd aan OpenShift Enterprise. OpenShift Enterprise 2 bouwt hiermee voor op Red Hat’s leiderschap in de open hybrid cloud en PaaS en bevat diverse nieuwe functies waardoor de private PaaS nog makkelijker geïmplementeerd kan worden:
- Krachtige integratie datacenter infrastructuur, versimpelt de deployment van OpenShift op OpenStack via OpenStack Orchestration (Heat) templates en maakt integratie mogelijk met een externe router en load balancer infrastructuur, en biedt een gestroomlijnde OpenShift Enterprise installer die ervoor zorgt dat IT nog sneller kan profiteren van cloud computing.
- Geavanceerde administratie console, biedt IT operations een meer gestroomlijnde PaaS-ervaring en geeft hen inzicht in applicaties, gebruikers en de totale capaciteit van hun PaaS-platform.
- Ondersteuning van de nieuwste programmeertalen, waarmee ontwikkelaars toegang hebben tot populaire programmeertalen, waarmee ze mogelijkheden voor creativiteit en innovatie bij applicatieontwikkeling kunnen vergroten. OpenShift Enterprise ondersteunt naast Java, Ruby, Python, PHP en Perl nu ook Node.js voor server-side JavaScript.
- Nieuwe samenwerkingsmogelijkheden, die het ontwikkelaars makkelijker maken om toegang tot applicaties te kunnen delen, zodat andere teams betrokken kunnen worden bij de ontwikkeling.
Beschikbaarheid
OpenShift Enterprise 2 is per 11 december 2013 beschikbaar voor klanten in Noord-Amerika, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Europa en een aantal landen in Azië en Latijns-Amerika, waaronder Australia, ASEAN, Argentinië en Brazilië.
