Red Hat Software Collections combineert de stabiliteit van Red Hat Enterprise Linux met stabiele runtime software
Amsterdam, 18 september 2013 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, kondigt Red Hat Software Collections 1.0. aan. Beschikbaar via een selectie Red Hat Enterprise Linux abonnementen biedt Red Hat Software Collections de nieuwste en meest stabiele versies aan van open source runtime componenten, met een update cyclus gescheiden van Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Ontwikkelaars willen toegang tot snelle taal- en database-innovatie. Red Hat reageert hierop door – naast het leveren van stabiliteit van het Red Hat Enterprise Linux-platform – nieuwe versies van de ontwikkelaar-georiënteerde technologieën frequent uit te brengen.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux levert momenteel stabiele tools en runtime technologieën met haar 10-jarige update cyclus en zal dat blijven doen. Inspelend op veranderende behoeftes van ontwikkelaars, biedt Red Hat Software Collections toegang tot nieuwere, bijgewerkte en betrouwbare versies van populaire dynamische talen en open source databases met een driejarige levenscyclus. Hierdoor kunnen organisaties software sneller ontwikkelen op een modern platform in fysieke, virtuele en cloud omgevingen zonder de potentiële risico’s van niet-ondersteunde community projecten.
Red Hat Software Collections 1.0 omvat:
- Dynamische programmeertalen voor het ontwikkelen van moderne webapplicaties, zoals Ruby 1.9.3 met Rails 3.2.8, PHP 5.4, Python 3.3 en 2.7, Perl 5.16.3, en node.js 0.10 (geleverd als Technology Preview); en
- Runtime databases, inclusief MariaDB 5.5, MySQL 5.5, en PostgreSQL 9.2
De componenten die worden aangeboden via Red Hat Software Collections zijn bestemd voor productie in fysieke, virtuele en cloud omgevingen. Ze worden ondersteund door een Red Hat Enterprise Linux abonnement en geleverd met een keuze van service-level agreements (SLA's). Dit maakt Red Hat Software Collections een goede keuze voor organisaties op zoek naar keuze en flexibiliteit als het aankomt op applicatieontwikkeling en implementatie.
Red Hat maakt ook onderdelen van Red Hat Software Collections beschikbaar op OpenShift, Red Hat’s open source Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), waardoor de flexibiliteit nog verder wordt vergroot.
