Amsterdam, 3 april 2013 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, heeft Radhesh Balakrishnan aangesteld als nieuw hoofd voor zijn virtualisatie technologieën en oplossingen. Balakrishnan, die van Microsoft vandaan komt, zal de wereldwijde virtualisatie business leiden en is verantwoordelijk voor Red Hat OpenStack en de Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization technologieën en oplossingen.
Virtualisatie is de steunpilaar van cloud computing en Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), die als basis dient voor Red Hat’s virtualisatie initiatieven. De KVM hypervisor is de meest gebruikte hypervisor in de cloud. Ook OpenStack ontvangt brede draagkracht in de markt vanwege de kracht van open source ontwikkeling. Onder leiding van Balakrishnan wil Red Hat zijn Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization aanbod uitbreiden en Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) oplossingen voor enterprises op basis van OpenStack bieden.
Voor zijn komst naar Red Hat was Balakrishnan werkzaam voor Microsoft waar hij verantwoordelijk was voor het product management en product marketing voor verschillende productlijnen. In zijn meest recente functie als senior director was hij verantwoordelijk voor de Windows Azure cloud platform business in de regio Azië-Pacific.
