Amersfoort, 28 juni 2012 - Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, heeft een definitieve overeenkomst ondertekend om FuseSource over te nemen van Progress Software Corporation. FuseSource is een leverancier van open source integratie en messaging. Door de overname kan Red Hat zijn enterprise klanten applicatie-integratieproducten en -diensten aanbieden.
“Applicatie-integratiesoftware is een van de snelst groeiende segmenten van de enterprise softwaremarkt”, zegt Craig Muzilla, vice president en general manager middleware bij Red Hat.
“Aangezien cloud computing dominanter wordt, vragen enterprise klanten om meer applicatie-integratie. Door de toevoeging van FuseSource aan ons middleware portfolio kunnen we klanten voorzien van meer integratiemogelijkheden en flexibiliteit. FuseSource’s technologieën, expertise en betrokkenheid bij open source passen uitstekend bij Red Hat.”
FuseSource, met een hoofdkantoor in Bedford, Massachusetts, voorziet veel Fortune 500-bedrijven van open source integratie- en open source messagingproducten gebaseerd op Apache ServiceMix, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache CFX en Apache Camel. Naar verwachting zullen de open source-medewerkers, die deel uitmaken van het technisch leiderschap van FuseSource, een belangrijke rol blijven spelen in de middleware community projecten. Door de overname van FuseSource zal Red Hat de mogelijkheden binnen JBoss integratiesoftware verbeteren. Deze technologie is een aanvulling op de productlijn van JBoss en brengt Red Hat dichter bij de volgende generatie applicatie-integratieproducten.
De voltooiing van de overname is onderworpen aan de gebruikelijke voorwaarden. Red Hat verwacht niet dat deze transactie een materieel effect zal hebben op de jaarrekening voor het boekjaar 2013. Red Hat verwacht later deze zomer uitgebreide commercialiseringsplannen te presenteren.
