Perfetti Van Melle(PVM) is a privately owned company, producing and distributing candies and chewing gums in more than 150 countries worldwide. PVM is the third largest confectionery (sugar confectionery + gum) Group in the world. PVM’s largest confectionery in Turkey, decided to use ICRON WFP for workforce planning in the production.
The two production facilities with a total area of 7.000 m2, employs over 800 workers. Having different skills, these workers should be assigned to shifts considering their shift and overtime history in direct relation ship with the production shedulles. To increase efficiency, workers need to be assigned to production lines and roles that are most compatible with their skills. Holidays, illnesses or special conditions (like pregnancy) should be taken into consideration.
PVM decided to use ICRON Workforce Management (WFM) solution to manage this complex problem. Project started on September, 2011.
When PVM Workforce Management project goes live, shift assignements will be performed by ICRON automatically. Day-to-day changes will be made bu PVM Production Department manually.
Shift assignments will be made under various considerations, including:
- Legal obligations
- Employee skill levels
- Special conditions such as pregnancy, nursing leave, employees with disabilities
- Planned leaves, holidays, health reports, excuses
- Assignment of repair and maintenance staff
- Planning of on-the-job trainings
Solution will be supported by several visual outputs and reports. Main objective of the solution is to improve efficiency of PVM Turkey’s workforce management by automating the planning process and providing all necessary information to the planners in a user-friendly decision support system. To achieve this goal, ICRON and PVM will define interfaces with their existing HR, time and attendance registration and other data collection systems. PVM ICRON Workforce Management is expected will go-live at the beginning of 2012.
