Amersfoort, 25 juni 2010 – Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), marktleider in opensourceoplossingen, kondigt vandaag de beschikbaarheid aan van JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0. De komst van deze nieuwe generatie portaaloplossing markeert de volgende fase van Red Hat’s doel het meest volledige portfolio van middleware-producten te bieden. Organisaties hebben nu toegang tot flexibele, opensourcealternatieven voor het creëren, gebruiken, integreren en beheren van on-premise en cloudgebaseerde applicaties.
‘Met JBoss Enterprise Middleware biedt Red Hat middleware-componenten die organisaties nodig hebben om hun applicatiearchitectuur te standaardiseren. De flexibele benadering ondersteunt hierbij de keuze van gebruikers’, aldus Craig Muzilla, vice president en general manager middleware bij Red Hat. ‘JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 biedt gebruikers de interactiemogelijkheden die nodig zijn om rijke webgebaseerde applicaties te bouwen en te gebruiken.’
JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 is ontworpen om tijd en kosten te verminderen die samenhangen met de ontwikkeling, het gebruik en beheer van dynamische webtoepassingen. JBoss Open Choice is Red Hat’s strategie om middleware te bieden die een lichtgewicht, flexibele architectuur levert om de grote verscheidenheid aan programmeermodellen, talen en gebruikersopties te ondersteunen. JBoss Enterprise Middleware ondersteunt de keuze van de ontwikkelaar en architect, ongeacht of zij applicaties ontwerpen voor Java Enterprise editie, Spring Framework, Seam, Google Web Toolkit, Ruby, Groovy, PHP en andere frameworks en programmeerkeuzes.
‘JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 zorgde in combinatie met de JBoss Portlet Bridge voor de ontwikkeling van CITYTECH Reseller Portal custom portlets waardoor ze kunnen profiteren van de bekende Seam, FSF en RichFaces frameworks. Doordat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 5.0 de basis is, verbreidde onze expertise van JBoss en JEE goed. Met name in specifieke gebieden zoals het gebruik van applicaties en administratie. We zijn ervan overtuigd dat onze applicatie voldoet aan de toekomstige eisen op het gebied van schaalbaarheid en prestaties’, aldus Matt Van Bergen, CTO, CITYTECH, Inc. ‘Met de kernapplicatie verwachten we snel extra selfservice functionaliteiten voor klanten toe te voegen met een verkorte time to market.’
Opensourceportals winnen aan populariteit in de markt. Volgens het Gartner-rapport Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals constateren Gartner’s analisten dat opensourceportals zich steeds verder ontwikkelen. ‘In 2011 verwacht Gartner dat ten minste 15 procent van de nieuwe enterprise portalprojecten in ‘Global 2000-bedrijven’ opensourceframeworks zullen gebruiken.’ Daarnaast ziet Gartner ‘Een verandering in de dynamica van horizontale portal markt. De combinatie van enterprise gerichte opensourcealternatieven met cloud computing is hiervoor de drijfveer.’
Naast het JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 kondigt Red Hat ook de beschikbaarheid aan van een technische preview van JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform Site Publisher. Dit is een krachtig webcontentmanagement- en workflowproduct, verzorgd door eXo, om te voldoen aan de contentbehoeften. Site Publisher is een nieuwe, optionele add-on op JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 die een extra set webcontentmanagementeigenschappen biedt. Site Publisher zal een volledig ondersteund add-on component zijn die gelijktijdig wordt uitgebracht met toekomstige JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform versies.
JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 maakt deel uit van het JBoss Enterprise Middleware-portfolio, een uitgebreide familie van open source middleware softwareproducten om ontwikkelaars en organisaties in staat te stellen applicaties on-premise en binnen de cloud te bouwen, gebruiken, integreren en beheren. Deze producten omvatten de JBoss-applicatieplatformfamilie: flexibele applicatieplatform-producten voor het ontwikkelen van zowel lichtgewicht als high transactional applicaties. JBoss Enterprise SOA en integratieplatformproducten bieden de software die nodig is voor het integreren van uiteenlopende business processen, terwijl JBoss Developer Studio en frameworks de tools bieden die nodig zijn om dynamische applicaties te bieden.
