Nieuwegein, May 11, 2010 - Windmark has signed a partnership agreement with Kaviza, a California-based vendor of turnkey virtual desktop solution. This addition to Windmark’s portfolio is a logical extension of our systems management and service management expertise. With Windows 7 migrations on the horizon and changing work environments, desktop virtualization is a natural way to go, if the investment can be justified. With a total investment for a Kaviza Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) that fits into the PC-replacement budget, Kaviza smoothes the way.
"During the evaluation process, Windmark has demonstrated how competent and experienced they are as a systems management solution provider." says Volker Wiora, Kaviza Advisor and Representative of Kaviza in Europe, "We are confident, that they are the right partner for Kaviza to get started in the Netherlands. We are looking forward working with them."
Windmark's CTO Robert de Windt explains their choice for Kaviza: "We have looked at many VDI products that are available in the market, but none of them is as easy to use and affordable as Kaviza’s VDI-in-a-box. When you see a demonstration of this software, the decision for Kaviza becomes obvious."
One advantage of virtual desktops is that they can be accessed from anywhere which makes it a perfect fit for many government organizations where employees have a flexible workspace environment and may pick a different desk to work at every day. They could even access the same virtual desktop session from home without putting any government data at risk, as all data will be securely stored on a server.
Another virtual desktop option makes them very popular in the educational sector. Policies can be set to make sure users get pristine, virus-free desktops on each refresh. In addition, students can access their school desktops from their own hardware.
"We have a lot of experience in application virtualization and desktop management. With Kaviza VDI we can focus on ensuring a positive user experience, which ultimately determines acceptance. The recent Kaviza announcement about Citrix XenServer support and integration of the Citrix HDX protocol validates our evaluation.” Comments Robert de Windt.
