Amersfoort, 22 juni 2009 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), marktleider in opensourceoplossingen, kondigt vandaag de bètaversie aan van het Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization productportfolio. De verwachte opleverdatum is later dit jaar. Dit productaanbod is onderdeel van de in februari van dit jaar aangekondigde strategie om de virtualisatie- en cloudtechnologie breder beschikbaar te stellen. Via een ecosysteem van hardware- en softwarepartners biedt Red Hat zijn klanten flexibiliteit, een brede keuze en stimuleert men de marktacceptatie van virtualisatie.
De reeds aangekondigde virtualisatiestrategie en roadmap bevat plannen om server-, cliënt- en managementproducten te leveren, die de toegankelijkheid en het gebruik van virtualisatie voor grote bedrijven fors vereenvoudigt. Er is met klanten en partners samengewerkt om te voldoen aan de technologiewensen.
“We zijn zeer verheugd met het warme ontvangst bij de grotere ondernemingen wereldwijd die bezig zijn virtualisatie in te voeren en de voordelen zien van ons aanbod. Ons bètaprogramma is overvol,” zegt Scott Crenshaw, vice president, Platform Business Unit bij Red Hat. “We kunnen nu een flexibel, en kosteneffectief virtualisatieportfolio aanbieden waarbij de producten consistent een hardware- en softwarecertificatieportfolio delen. We bieden een compleet aanbod van een standalone hypervisor, een gevirtualiseerd besturingssysteem tot een uitgebreide reeks virtualisatiemanagementproducten.” Het Red Hat Enterprise virtualisatieaanbod bouwt voort op het succes van de geïntegreerde virtualisatietechnologie uit het Red Hat Enterprise Linux besturingssysteem uit maart 2007.
“De nieuwe virtualisatiestrategie van Red Hat bevat een nieuwe hypervisor die verbonden is aan server en desktopvirtualisatiemanagementproducten,” zegt Gary Chen, research manager, Enterprise Virtualization Software bij IDC. “Het is bemoedigend te zien dat Red Hat met deze bèta annoncering zijn virtualisatieaanbod verder heeft ontwikkeld. Van wat ik gezien heb in een eerdere demonstratie van het managementplatform is het duidelijk dat Red Hat zijn klanten meer virtualisatiemogelijkheden wil bieden. Ik kijk uit naar de finale producten later dit jaar.”
